Finally, the best works of Elaine M. Lisle ...lay brightly colored shapes across cityscapes and town vistas with an almost
decorative suspense, sometimes arranging these scenes in fleet ways showing breezy intentions. ...she represents reality as mood.
...Philadelphia Inquirer

"Think of Elaine Lisle as Philadelpia’s very own Edward Hopper. Instead of chronicling the dreary workaday existences of Depression-era
city dwellers, however, Lisle uses her soft but realistic voice to paint pictures of a city in transition."

Philadelphia Weekly

"Bright , exuberant color and bold contrasts of sunny afternoon light are hallmarks of Lisle’s work. Lisle renders realistic skylines and
streeetscapes, reproducing those elements that particularly enhance the composition."
Main Line Life

"Lisle's forte is action in the landscape. She inhabits her paintings with people... even the rural scenes possess a certain gesture of
presence. Lisle reiterates the sense of movement and life in her actual painting style, which renders the landscape and the people
and animated objects in it in crisp, bold, brushwork."
